Mountains in Tolantongo

The continuous warm running spring water is just one of the things to love about the thermal pools. There are a number of these cliffside pools to choose from. Some were larger, some smaller. The panoramic views of the surrounding mountains are grand, to say the least, and swimming in the warmth of the infinity pools encouraged all the tired muscles to relax especially after a full day of flights and driving.

It was a pleasant temperature when we arrived around 2 pm, so it was easy getting into the pools but when it came time to get out of the pool it was around 4.30 pm and it was quite cold. We actually forgot to take our towels and a change of clothes which meant that the kids were freezing.

Huddled with the babies close to us to share body warmth, we climbed back up the mountain back towards the car, which was a bit of a hike for both us since we were both carrying the kids and it felt like a million stairs.

We wanted to visit the thermal pools the most, but there are lots of other things to do at the park. There are caves, waterfalls, grottos and bridges.

You might find it worthwhile to stay at the resort overnight if you would like to cover more of the park and have enough time to do each activity. Lots of families we saw there were locals who were holidaying for the weekend.
